Exo 3DP Sockets

The Exo 3DP Socket is a 3D printed prosthetic socket for trans-tibial amputees. We work closely with the prescribing clinician to ensure the optimal socket design, in respect of fit and comfort, for the end user.

3DP socket design

The Exo 3DP Socket is designed following the specifications from the the prescribing prosthetist, making every socket unique to the individual. At Exo Prosthetics we can include socket design features such as variable socket thicknesses, integrated prosthetic strengthening frames and ventilation holes. The Exo 3DP socket includes options for pin-lock liner suspension and suction suspension, including elevated vacuum.

Socket construction

Once the socket design process has been completed and approved by the prescribing prosthetist, it is sent to the 3D printer for manufacturing. At Exo Prosthetics we use the most accurate machines which fabricate the prosthetic socket to an accuracy of 0.1 mm.

The Exo Prosthetic Socket is a bespoke medical device and as such must always be supplied to by a certified Prosthetist.

Volume fluctuation

The Exo BOA socket design is currently being developed for below knee amputees. It uses a configuration of three socket panels, that are connected, enabling the incorporated BOA mechanism to tighten or loosen the prosthetic socket. The aim of this is to help improve socket comfort by compensating for residual limb volume fluctuations, without the need to remove the prosthesis to make adjustments to improve socket comfort.
